ユーバ市から東日本大震災10年に向けたメッセージ

東日本大震災から10年経過にあたり、姉妹都市である米国ユーバ市姉妹都市協会会長よりメッセージをいただきましたので、下記のとおりご紹介します。

We Remember March 11, 2011

It is with much reverence that Yuba City reflects on this day and the lasting efforts on our friends in Toride-shi and the Ibaraki prefecture.

We understand the six minutes of fear during the shaking, all of the aftershocks, the terrible tsunami, and the sadness as the impacts of the damage came to be know. Yuba City has been affected by emergencies in neighboring regions, but never has experienced the devastation and loss that you experienced in 2011.

I understand that you are reading this message on the day after this terrible anniversary.

Please know that our Japanese friends are in our thoughts and prayers today. See you later.

私たちは3.11を忘れない

この日を迎えるにあたり、取手市をはじめとする茨城県の皆さんがこれまで継続的に行ってきた復興へのご努力に対し畏敬の念を表します。

私たちは、あの時、6分の揺れの間に皆さんが感じた恐怖、余震、恐ろしい津波、そしてその後明らかになった被害への悲しみに心を痛めています。ユーバ市は、近隣地域での突発的な緊急事態に影響を受けたことはありますが、皆さんが2011年に経験されたほどの荒廃と喪失を未だ経験したことはありません。

（時差があるため）あの日から10年を迎えた恐ろしい周年日の翌日に、皆さんはこのメッセージをお読みになっていることでしょう。どうか、私たちがいつも日本の友人のことを思い、幸福を願っていることを心にお留めください。またお会いする日を楽しみにしています。
